According to the Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper, the jaguar, a predatory cat of Central and North America, is in a threatened species state.A new organization called the Northern Jaguar Project is raising funds to purchase a 30,000 acre ranch in northern Mexico, which is an important part of the jaguar range and is currently owned by a man who says he personally shot many of the creatures when he found them on his land.
